Vic: Survey tracks former Ansett employees
A new survey indicates nearly 80 per cent of former Ansett employees have found worksince the airline's collapse.
The study, commissioned by the Victorian government, surveyed 649 of the 12,500 Ansettemployees retrenched between September 2001 and July 2002.
About 78 per cent of the respondents had found some work by the time the survey wasconducted in August.
Of those, 26 per cent had found a new job before finishing at Ansett and nearly halfhad found employment within a month.
About eight per cent have left the labour force and are no longer looking for work.
Victorian Treasurer JOHN BRUMBY says the survey results will help improve assistanceprograms for all retrenched workers.
