Vic: New NEC research and development centre to create jobs

Japanese corporate giant NEC has opened a $70 million research and development centre
in Melbourne which is expected to create almost 300 jobs.

Launching the facility, Premier STEVE BRACKS says it includes 63 specialist engineering
positions and will generate a further 230 jobs across the IT sector.

He says NEC has committed to research and development in Victoria for the next decade.

Mr BRACKS says it will generate $17 million annually for the state.
