NSW: Olympic torch test even burns up NSW South Coast roads

A test event for the Sydney Olympics torch relay was held on the New South Wales south
coast today -- and pronounced a success.

Residents of a string of seaside towns between Batemans Bay and Kiama had a unique
preview of what will be the longest torch procession in the history of the Games.

A team of 200 people, including 100 torchbearers, was involved, using actual Olympic
torches and official uniforms -- although the torches were unlit.

The Olympic flame leaves Olympia in Greece next month and its official Australian journey
begins at Uluru on June 8.

The relay will take in 1,000 towns over 100 days on a 27,000km route around Australia.
